monad
London,2018
Monadology, as defined by the German philosopher Leibniz, is the theory of being everything. Monads are substances without parts but with qualities; without form, coloror physical existence. They have no entry or exit; they are spiritual units without extension. The Digital city consists of a swarmlike intelligence system whose units, like monads, are smart homes. This project allows swarm behavior of these units to operate the cities’ dynamism and adaptivity. Based on the parameters and needs of urban life, the city will organize itself in the most efficient way. Swarm intelligence systems allow the urban environment to be responsive to habitat and everyday life, with self-aware intelligent units assembling themselves by operating as connected groups. Cities evolve through interactions between environment and occupants; thus digital cities will self-organize according to these parameters.
